18 years of Robin

meme kind of thing but not in meme format. hahh.

I've been wanting to do this for a a while because it looked like fun! I was going through a lot of old photos recently for senior graduation stuff so I decided to do one of these sort of things.

this documents all the major years in my life and big turning points and such. writing text in the graphics program is a pain, so here's just a brief description of each image if you're interested:

baby
baby me. pretty much the only time I didn't have really dark hair.

preschool
lived in Phoenix for a few years while in preschool then moved back to Texas. I remember that purple was the first favorite color I ever had. it's my favorite color today, too. my life DOES get more interesting after this, I promise xD

also, I was obsessed with Pokemon in kindergarten/1st grade. my mom eventually had to ban my brother and I from watching/playing it hahh. it was my first anime. xDD

2nd grade
started playing soccer in elementary school. I played on the same team until 6th grade, we were "the Blizzard". I played goalie and our team was pretty good. at that time, I wanted to be a professional soccer player when I grew up.

I got my hair cut really short in 2nd grade. then I was afraid I looked like a boy (it didn't help that I was a tomboy) so I my mom took me to get my ears pierced that same day. I picked out pink earrings, even though I hated pink.

4th grade
in 5th grade, 2 major things in my life happened. 1) my friend introduced me to Neopets, through which I learned about graphic design and website programming. 2) I got a book from my school book fair, "How to Draw Manga", and was introduced to the world of manga drawing. I got pretty good at it (for a 5th grader, that is) and became pretty popular at school because of it. xD it wasn't until junior high that I actually discovered and started reading manga.

7th grade
my first year of summer camp in Oklahoma was in 6th grade, another big event in my life. the T-shirt I'm wearing comes from the camp's name, "89er Village", and I still wear it all the time.

in 6th grade my friend introduced me to manga. my first series was Fruits Basket. we read and watched a lot of other series at that time, too. but my main love in junior high was Teen Titans! xD that show was what really got me hooked on drawing, cartooning, and comic books. my dad's friend gave me his Teen Titans comic book collection from the 80's and I read them all.

8th grade
8th grade was my first year at private school (the same school that I went to through high school), so here's my school uniform. I made it 5 years with that same skirt. xDD (they're really durable and indestructible skirts, OK? hahah) I convinced my mom to let me get highlights because I thought they were cool. D:

9th grade (freshman)
short hair again! this is the year marching band started, so my legs are no longer scrawny xD I was really busy with school and band for a few years so I didn't have a lot of time for art.

In 11th grade I got re-hooked on anime and manga, thanks to Hayao Miyazaki movies as well as my renewed interest in Fullmetal Alchemist. I decided to pick up FMA again after seeing an ad for the new Brotherhood series on TV one day and was hooked. I was also inspired to really dedicate myself to learning Japanese, especially after learning that the university I'm going to offers it as a minor.

12th grade (senior)
and here's where I am now! this month I'm graduating from high school, and in the fall I'm going to college to study Communication Design (like graphic design) and Japanese. In the near future, I would like to work for FUNimation as a job or internship (the company is located near my hometown), and then someday go on to do something in the animation production or marketing sort of field. I can't wait to see what's in store next!
